Actually , Island Peak is mostly glaciated rising proudly from the Lhotse Glacier.A small col separates Island peak from the south Ridge of Lotse Shar.It is said that south –west is the part of the normal route which ease the climbers to the summit.The other name to this peak is Imja Tse in local language.
