Rara Lake is a beautiful lake located in Rara national park, Mugu district. Rara lake is largest lake in Nepal with 5 km length and 2 km wide, situated at the elevation of 3000m from above the sea level. Rara lake is also famous for the special species of fish i.e., snow trout variety and popular pilgrimage sites for Nepalese. A trek to Rara comes with ultimate experience and challenges for which our agency provides 15 days special package for Rara Lake trekking.

Day 01 : Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

The first day is the day of Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft). You get picked up from the airport then, you head towards the hotel, your accommodation for a day. You can take a rest and enjoy Nepali authentic cuisine.

Day 02 : Kathmandu sightseeing

The next day is the day of Kathmandu sightseeing. World Heritage Sites, temples, narrow alleys, arts and crafts, people, and food, you will experience very much friendly and cultural vibes around you for day 2. At night you can accommodate yourself to the hotel, or a short night walk around busy alleys. Take enough rest too.

Day 03 : Kathmandu to Nepalgunj (150m/490 ft)

For day 3, you fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj (150m/490 ft). The flight takes 1 hour to reach Nepalgunj. Nepalgunj is one of the famous transportation and industrial hub of Nepal. For the only day, you can experience famous street foods or snacks, chat, samosa, ravri, and so on. You can roam around and understand culture and livelihood. Don’t forget to take a rest and have enough food because your expedition is going to be quite different and full of natural wonders in the upcoming days.

Day 04 : Nepalgunj to Jumla (2,540m/8,334ft)

Another day, you fly from Nepalgunj to Jumla (2,540m/8,334ft). It is a short flight and only takes 20 minutes. Jumla is famous for red rice, apple, and yarshagumba. The distance from Jumla to Rara Lake is approximately 32 km. For rest of the day, you can acclimatize around the Jumla countryside and enjoy the sightseeing of the greenery. Your accommodation for the day is a hotel with good facilities.

Day 05 : Jumla to Chere Chaur (3,055m/10,023ft)

Yayy!! Day 5 is the first trek day. You will trek from Jumla to Chere Chaur (3,055m/10,023ft). Chere Chaur is a 5- 6 hour walk from Jumla. Here you accommodate in the tea house for the night. The trail to Chere Chaur is full of scenic beauty and through the forest, and meadows. We go from Jumla and travel up the Jugad Khola to Chere Chaur. We pass by Khalanga Bazaar along the road, a little market for the local communities. Before arriving at our destination, we also drive through a few villages and a temple. You can see herder’s hut in Chere Chaur.

Day 06 : Chere Chaur to Chalachaur (2,980m/9,777ft)

The next day, you trek from Chere Chaur to Chalachaur (2,980m/9,777ft). It takes approximately 5 hours to complete your daily walk. We follow the western route from Chere Chaur and gradually climb to the Jaljala pass (3580m). After passing the pass, we continue hiking on a mostly direct path until we arrive at Jaljala Chaur. Before reaching Chalachaur, we hike a difficult terrain from here and join the Rara Lake Circuit.

Day 07 : Chalachaur to Sinja Valley (2,490m/ft)

On day 7,  you trek from Chalachaur to Sinja Valley (2,490m/ft). It is approximately a 6-7 hours walk to reach Sinja valley. To reach Sinja Valley, one must cross a hill. We travel alongside the Jaljala Khola and pass through several villages along the route (stream). The Sinja Valley has played a significant role in Nepalese history. The former capital of the Khasa Kingdom, which reigned over this region from the 12th to the 14th century, is located in this valley. The Department of Archaeology at Cambridge University led the searches that showed up palaces, temples, and the remains of a long-gone civilization.

Day 08 : Sinja to Ghorosingha (3,050m/10,007ft)

On day 8, you will trek from Sinja to Ghorosingha (3,050m/10,007ft). It is 6 hour trek to reach Ghorosingha. We head out of Sinja along the Hima River on a hilly track. From the settlement, we ascend a steep hill for a bit before continuing on a trail that is simple until we reach Laha Village. It is a difficult climb from Laha to Ghorosingha together with Ghatte Khola (stream). You stay in the tea house overnight.

Day 09 : Ghorosingha to Rara Lake (3,010m/9,876ft)

On another expedition day, you trek Ghorosingha to Rara Lake (3,010m/9,876ft). You are here, the final destination. We can view the Himalayan landscape, the enormous and serene Rara Lake, and the rich greenery of the Rara National Park from our walk, which runs beside Chuchhemara Danda. We travel past Khatyar Khola Camp and a few villages, including Murma, en route to Rara Lake. The climb becomes a little easier after Murma. We keep moving in the direction of Chapri village, which is home to the Rara National Park Headquarters.

Day 10 : Explore Rara Lake

Today is exploration day. You explore Rara Lake. After breakfast, we explore the immense lake's beautiful water, which is also known as the Mahendra Taal (Lake), in honor of the late monarch Mahendra. While boating, we get the opportunity to take in the lake's lovely surroundings and learn about a wide variety of species. Ruma Kand and Malika Kand peaks surround the northern portion of the Rara Lake, while Chuchhemara Peak is located on its southern side.

Day 11 : Rara Lake to Pina (2,440m/ 8,006ft)

Day 11 is a trek from Rara Lake to Pina (2,440m/ 8,006ft). Our trail from Rara lake will be easier to Gamghadi. Gamghadi serves as the administrative center for Nepal’s isolated district Mugu. We take a steep trail walk to pina village from Gamghadi. It takes 6 hours of walking.

Day 12 : Pina to Bumra (2,850m/9,351ft)

Day 12, is trek from Pina to Bumra (2,850m/9,351ft). We leave Pina and cross ghurchi Lagna pass (3840m). Before we get to Bumra, we keep going down and pass through a few villages. Nauri Ghat is another name for the Bumra settlement. Overnight at tea house.

Day 13 : Trek ends: Bumra to Jumla (2,540m/8,334ft)

Today is the last day of the trek. Trek ends after 6 hour walk from Bumra to Jumla (2,540m/8,334ft). We move downward after crossing two suspension bridges over the Hima River. We arrive at a hot spring where we may take a soak to relieve our hurting bodies after several hours of trekking. We quickly cross the Danphe Lagna pass( 3691m ) after the hot spring. We take the same route we did a few days earlier after arriving in Cherechaur to go to Jumla.

Day 14 : Fly to Nepalgunj, fly to Kathmandu

You fly to Nepalgunj and the same day, take the flight to Kathmandu.
